Speaker Spotlight

 

David Barnes

David Barnes is executive vice president and chief financial officer of MWH, now part of Stantec. With more than 25 years of financial and management experience, he provides leadership to the MWH finance, information technology and procurement teams around the world. Mr. Barnes joined MWH in 2009 from the Western Union Company, where he led finance, strategy and business development. He also served as Chief Financial Officer of RadioShack, Coors Brewing (U.S.) and YUM Brands in China. He started his career as a consultant with Bain & Company in Boston. He serves on the advisory committee for the Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) program at the University of Colorado Business School in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Barnes also serves on the board of directors (and Chairman of the Audit Committee) of CSG Systems International, a publicly-held provider of business support solutions for the communications industry.

Robert Caruso

Bob Caruso is the Managing Partner of B/3 Management Resources, LLC and an NACD Colorado Board Member. He has extensive senior management experience with Fortune 500 companies such as Alcoa and Coors and small to mid-size firms such as Applied Science and Technologies in the capacities of CEO, President and divisional VP/GM. Bob also held several officer-level leadership positions with responsibility for Marketing / Sales, Business / Product Development, Strategic Planning, Engineering and R&D. Most recently he was Co-Owner and President of Design Net Engineering which designs and builds spacecraft avionics systems and advanced military sensors. Mr. Caruso's industry background is in aerospace, manufacturing, technical services, technology development / commercialization and management consulting. Bob's career spans a wide range of commercial, operational and technical disciplines along with international experience in Latin America, Asia-Pacific and Europe. As a corporate executive, management consultant and investment banker, he has also spearheaded numerous M&A, Joint Venture and Strategic Alliance deals. Mr. Caruso has also served on the Boards of Directors of three publicly traded companies and several advisory boards in academia and industry. Presently, Mr. Caruso also serves on the Aerospace Advisory Committee at the University of Colorado - Boulder and on the Grant Proposals Review Board for the Colorado State Government - Advanced Industries Accelerator. He is a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with undergraduate degrees in Engineering Mechanics (B.S.) and General Arts & Sciences (B.A.), holds an MBA in Finance from Wayne State University of Michigan and completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University.

Ron Cooper

Ron Cooper was elected to the CSG International Board in November 2006. Mr. Cooper is retired. He most recently served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Clear Channel Outdoor Americas, Inc. from 2009 through 2012. Prior to this position, he was a Principal at Tufts Consulting LLC from 2006 through 2009. Previously, he spent nearly 25 years in the cable and telecommunications industry, most recently at Adelphia Communications where he served as President and Chief Operating Officer from 2003 to 2006. Prior to Adelphia, Mr. Cooper held a series of executive positions at AT&T Broadband, RELERA Data Centers & Solutions, MediaOne, and its predecessor Continental Cablevision, Inc. He has served on various boards of directors and committees with the National Cable Television Association, California Cable & Telecommunications Association, Cable Television Association for Marketing, New England Cable Television Association, and Outdoor Advertising Association of America. Mr. Cooper holds a B.A. degree from Wesleyan University.

Dan Dye

Dan Dye was named CEO of Ardent Mills in March 2013. Ardent Mills is the independent joint venture of its parent companies -- Cargill, ConAgra Foods and CHS. Dye officially became CEO when Ardent Mills opened for business on May 29, 2014. Ardent Mills operates a network of 40+ community flour mills and bakery mix facilities along with a specialty bakery in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. It is a values-based organization committed to being a trusted partner delivering innovative and nutritious grain-based solutions with a brand promise of “Nourishing What’s Next.” Prior to the formation of Ardent Mills, Dan held various merchandising and managerial positions since joining Cargill in 1981. In 2009, Dan was named president of Horizon Milling, a Cargill joint venture with CHS. In this capacity Dan was responsible for the flour milling, mix and bakery operations of Horizon Milling in the U.S. and Canada, offering wheat and flour products and solutions for a wide range of ingredient applications. Prior to that, Dan served for 10 years as president of Cargill AgHorizons, U.S., and was responsible for the overall management of Cargill’s grain handling and retail crop input business in the U.S. Dan currently serves on the Executive Committee of the North American Millers’ Association and the Board of Trustees of the Grain Foods Foundation. Dan also serves on the Board of Advisors for the University of Colorado-Denver Business School and on the Board of Trustees of Bethel University, St. Paul, Minn. Dan graduated from Bethel University in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in business administration and economics. He currently resides in Denver, Colorado.

Gregg Sutherland, Moderator

Gregg Sutherland is a partner of the Strategy consulting practice at EY. Gregg has worked with large global clients throughout his consulting career, including developing strategy and resource allocations for corporate boards. Gregg previously served as the Chief Strategy Officer at Qwest Communications, including board discussions of strategic decisions. Gregg has served as an expert witness in New York State and Federal courts, including the Microsoft Antitrust Remedy trial. Gregg is a sponsor the Door of Love orphanage for girls in El Salvador, and has been an advisory board member of for-profit and non-profit organizations. Gregg lives in Golden, Colorado and is married with two sons.
